Sustainable Computing

Inveneo specializes in delivering sustainable information and communication technology (ICT) solutions for challenging rural and underserved environments. With our deep technical know-how, we identify, test and certify hardware devices and software applications and integrate them into ICT solutions that are affordable and robust for locations that have little or no reliable electrical power or Internet service.

Key factors we consider include:

  • Affordability
  • Long-term sustainability
  • Low to ultra-low power consumption (12V DC)
  • Ability to operate in dusty, humid, and hot environments
  • Easy installation and use
  • Available warranty
  • Microsoft and Linux OS compatibility

Inveneo and our local partners design and deploy sustainable computing solutions on a local, regional, and national scale; ranging from single computer labs to ICT systems for hundreds of locations. To date, our solutions are serving over 2 million people in over 1,000 communities across 25 countries in the developing world.

Solutions

Inveneo identifies, tests and certifies devices and software to ensure they are ready to address and overcome challenges found in rural environments. Once certified, Inveneo makes these products available through our in-country partners. You may find the Inveneo Hardware Solution Guide helpful to understand when to use desktops, laptops, and thin clients in rural ICT installations.

Mobile Computing
For customers who need a mobile solution, Inveneo and our Inveneo Certified Local Partners are Intel Learning Series Alliance Partners. This allows us to offer ClassmatePC laptop computers in Africa with the Alliance ecosystem of supporting hardware and software.

Desktop Computing
Inveneo Certified low-power desktop solutions are designed to meet the variety of needs that partners and customers face in rural and underserved communities. When paired with low-power LCDs, they provide the optimum performance and features for all types of deployments.

Servers
The Inveneo Hub Server, a low-power-consuming, highly configurable server that offers great performance, is no longer available.  The official End-Of Life for Hub Server R4 was announced on February 21st, 2013. Support for the Inveneo Hub Server  will continue until December 20th, 2013.  End of Life Notice

Long Distance Networking
A long distance WiFi access point is a low-power wireless device that allows one or more locations to connect to distant Internet services in order to reach and/or share access to the Internet. Creating a network of these devices gives different locations of an organization the ability to aggregate services so they can afford a better connection by sharing costs.

High-quality long-distance wireless networks can also serve to connect regional offices (such as clinics, field offices, and government locations) together on a broadband network, allowing each office to share information and communicate with each other.

Inveneo identifies, sources, tests and certifies a range long distance outdoor WiFi products for use in rural settings. We currently recommend and stock a range of Ubiquiti devices for rural installations in Africa.

Professional Services

In addition to designing the computing solution itself, Inveneo and our local partners provide strategic planning and execution expertise to overcome the implementation challenges of deploying electronic devices in the developing world. Our local partner ecosystems offer cost-effective support services in underserved areas that often lack the expertise necessary to successfully maintain technology.

We can also design wireless networks using these devices that are cost effective, locally installed and supported and meet your organizations operational needs. To inquire about your sustainable computing needs or purchase Inveneo solutions, please complete the client intake form.
