Gigabit Router and Wireless Access Point
The Mikrotik 951G-2HnD is a wireless Gigabit router and access point with five Gigabit Ethernet ports, one USB 2.0 port and a high power 2.4GHz 1000mW 802.11b/g/n wireless AP with antennas built in.
The 951G is a capable router and, along with Inveneo’s custom configuration file, makes for an appropriate edge device in most SOHO (small office / home office) scenarios. The router is far more customizable and powerful than most typical home-based devices, and cheaper than Inveneo’s previous offering, the R4. The device is easy to maintain, does not require linux command line experience and features a web-accessible graphical user interface. It serves as a direct replacement for the routing functionality of the R4 and, with usage graphs available to track bandwidth usage across different ports, offers an exceptional level of value.
In comparison with Mikrotik’s previous 751G-2HnD, the 951G has a more powerful CPU (600Mhz vs. 400Mhz), more RAM (128MB vs. 64MB) with the same form factor and price.
Our recommendation is especially based on the following criteria:
